What does it mean to Arise?
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word arise is a verb which indicates that it is a doing word. So in essence, you cannot tell someone to arise without expecting them to act/do something.
The word arise has three definitions. 1: to begin to occur or to exist: to come into being or to attention 2: to get up or stand up 3: to move upward.
But I really like the first one – to come into being
or attention. God wants us to arise to walk into and fulfill our destiny because
we are destined for greatness.
Repeat after me: I am a woman of greatness. I can do
all things through Christ who strengthens me. Do you believe that? Say it again
like you believe it.
What does it mean to ARISE? I believe that each letter
of the word ARISE is significant and has a meaning behind it. So A.R.I.S.E means
to: Activate, Renew, Identify, Shine and
Endure and we will go through each.
Activate – What are we activating/What can we activate
in order to arise? We need to activate our faith.
Hebrews 11 and James 2 speak on faith. Faith is
believing in things unseen (for example, believing in your breakthrough). But
faith alone is not enough. The Bible says faith without works is dead. So to
activate and strengthen our faith, we have to do something (work our faith). It
also says without faith it is impossible to please God.
So we can arise through the exercising of our faith. If
you want to improve your faith, you have to read the bible, meditate on His words,
have a close relationship with Him and through prayer and fasting.
It is important to note that you cannot arise if you do not have faith.
Renew – What are we renewing? We need to renew our minds. Our mindset thought process and approach have to be transformed
in order to arise. Romans 12 says that in order to be transformed, our minds have to be renewed.
It is often said that our greatest battle happens in our minds. We struggle daily to convince ourselves that we can do it and that we are enough. If we do not have the right mindset, we can easily get off track. So we have to guard our minds. Colossians 3 also tells us to set our minds on things above and not on earthly things.
Identify – What do we need to identify? We need to identify our purpose. If we do not know our purpose, it will be difficult to walk in alignment with the will of God.
Romans 8:28 says – “And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose”. It should be our desire to arise to fulfill our
purpose because we are all going to be held accountable for our actions.
We arise in our purpose.
Shine – What do we need to shine? We need to shine our lights. We need to shine in every area of our
lives.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”. We shine
through our good works. When others especially the unsaved see the good things
that you do, they too will want to come to know the Saviour of this world who
is our God and King. When we arise, we shine to all around us.
Endure – What are we enduring? We need to endure life’s trials. Trials are inevitable, and hardships are
going to come our way, but what do we do? We keep the faith, we trust in God,
we continue to live for the Lord, and we exercise patience. All trials are to make
us stronger.
James 1:12 says “Blessed is the man that endureth
temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the
Lord hath promised to them that love him”. Don’t you want to be blessed? Don’t
you want to receive your crown of life? It comes with endurance.
Romans 8:18 also says “For I reckon that the
sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us”.
2 Timothy 3:12 also says “Yea, and all that will
live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”.
We can arise with endurance.
Children of God, we can ARISE in different areas of our
lives because we play various roles as women. We can ARISE in church and our
ministry, our community, our home, our workplaces and our society as a whole.
We can also ARISE from depression, anxiety, fear,
doubt and financial difficulties.
Arise in your faith, arise with a new mindset, arise in your purpose, arise and shine your light and arise in your endurance.
God bless you.
